The Aquilasax  "Classic"  Hard rubber        C melody mouthpiece was designed after the original mouthpieces of the roaring 20s with a large chamber in a short mpc. But has been altered for increased comfort and increased resonance!
It has a 2 mm tip  opening (# 5) and is easy to play for most people's tastes. It takes the original size C mel reeds, also available here.
Now in stock, new caps for Classic Hard rubber C mpcs. See new shopping cart for pix.

New in 2007, The "Metalpro" C melody mouthpiece.

Available in tip sizes: # 5,  # 6 or # 7
The larger tip openings give more volume. Comes with matching ligature and cap.
Only $70.00

Three popular C mel products. The Metalpro, the Classic Hard rubber MPC (with baffle still coming) and the new replacement straight neck for Conn C mels.

The New C Straight neck features an underslung octave mechanism with the vent hole retained on the top. This gives a clean look, increased safety and no vent problems. The lack of the microtuner even allows for long shank mpcs to be used.
For use with straight neck Conns or to replace curved neck Conns, which lowers the playing position. More comfortable for those with longer arms.  Only $98.00

Curved necks for replacing lost necks or to raise the playing hieght of a straight neck C mel.
$105.00
Please note: these necks are designed for Conn C mels they may not fit other horns. Bueschers are slightly smaller and would require adjustment by a tech. Holtons are a loose fit. Martins and Kings are too big for the necks.

C melody T shirts. Show them where you're at!

T shirts feature Aquilasax Eagle and slogan , "the KEY is C"

Customer FEEDBACK

Hi Steve

New neck arrived today - hooray! It's great, beautifully finished. Makes the sax much easier to play than the straight one. Just given it a quick blow, and intonation appears to be spot on. And it cleared customs with no problems, so no import duty or VAT. Excellent.

It's a pleasure doing business with you. I wish you well with your business.

Regards

Jon UK sept08

Hey Steve,
Mouthpiece and reeds arrived...(Classic)
Mate! That mouthpiece is truly a thing of beauty! The Quality is no different to my Meyer and definitely way up on any of my Links. And it blows!
The Martin is a different horn. It played ok before but didn't really hum...at all
Man, I would write more but I just gotta blow it.
TenorC is alive.

Got the curved neck for the Conn - I love it.  I think it actually makes the horn sound better.  I don't know if that makes any sense.  Maybe it's just that the bell is closer to my ears, don't know, but I swear it sounds better and plays the low notes better.

Steve, the #7 metalpro is AWESOME on the Buescher C-melody!!!

I thank you for the fantastic mouthpiece.  There is an amazing difference between an old original c-melody mouthpiece and the metalpro.  WOW.

I have the mouthpiece (metalpro # 6) and am a happy bunny
The Buescher neck has a bezel at the end (as so many do) and I decided to file it down quite a bit- this way the mpc went on ok once I had sanded the cork.Still a tight fit but it's a fit!
I got hold of a Rovner L12 ligature and this is a really good match for the mpc. Good sound , lots of character. Seriously good option that you could recomend to customers.
Thanks again.
 Dave. UK.

The reeds and mouthpeice you sent came in yesterday!  Thanks!  I love the metalpro mouthpeice, and the reeds were great too!  I called the local music store to price reeds there and the price floored me!  $27.75 for a box of 13  Ordering them from you saved me almost $15!

Feed back!!

The Metalpro mouthpiece is a delight, I can play easily & with colour,
throughout the range of what I was led to believe was a difficult instrument...the soprano.
Love the silver plated reed cap & the knurled screw...details are everything.
More power to you.
I will heartily recommend both you and your excellent products.

Hi Steve,
Just a note to say how pleased I am with your mpcs.for C saxes. On balance, I think that they are the best available. I know, I've got a draw full of others. Your C-sop mpcs has transformed my C soprano sax. I'd almost given up on it. It always seemed a hard blow and the intonation was always a bit off. Now with a soft reed, it blows free, sounds like a soprano and the intonation is spot on. It just shows that they knew what they were doing in 1921 and all the myths about in-built bad intonation are bunk, if you get the right mpc/reed combination.
All the Best,
Chris. U.K.

"You indicated that you were interested in some feedback on your C Melody reeds.
I've now tried several from the ten that I bought from you.
I can say that I am happy with them and will buy some more when I need them.
They are quite even blowing through the range and give a good response.
I play predominantly jazz/swing from the late 30's  - 40s  and the reeds are quite suitable for this style.
Despite a closed/medium mouthpiece,  these reeds are good to vary the sound/pitch/etc
pretty well to the same extent as an alto or tenor". D.P.  Adelaide.

FYI... I just tried the reeds that came with the C-Mel on my Runyon mouthpiece and they play somewhat better than bass clarinet reeds.  Sounds more like a C-Melody and the intonation is better.

“The C-melody gig bag arrived a week ago.  Very nice item.  It’s both well-designed and
well-constructed.  The craftsmanship is top-notch, and it fits the Conn horns perfectly.
Thanks.”  Sandy Davis  (Australia)

Hello Steve

The Mouthpiece is here. (Metalpro) It looks and plays great.
I am happy. Thanks so  much for the nice service.
Greetings from Germany

Hi Steve,
Just a note to say how delighted I am with the new neck and mpc.
I've tried all the usual mpcs, but the tone always seemed lacking.
I come in for some stick from the Eb and Bb boys, who think I'm a bit eccentric insisting on playing C melody sax.
I think they'll change their tune now. Your mpc not only gives a super tone over the whole range but
also removes the weak D over the octave split. The sax now sounds like a single instrument, not two.
I've found that your reeds suit the mpc best and I've ordered some more.
The new neck is of a fine quality and no doubt helps the tonal improvement.
If your new C mel comes up to this standard, no one should have any worries.
My Conn now sounds as I think it should do.
Listening to the old recordings my question is, how on earth did they manage with the original mpcs?
All the Best,
Chris.
